Phoenix, AZ in January

January 18, 2010

I’m in sunny California now.  We are going to be at the Quilt, Craft and Sewing Festival, at the fairgrounds in Phoenix, Az on Jan 28-30, 2010.  We are in the green building, for those of you who have attended before.  I will have the Stewart Gill paints and will be doing a make it, take it necklace. $5.  Google Rusty Barn Promotions, and get a coupon for $1.00 off of admission.

I just finished two wonderful classes by Esterita Austin.  I would highly recommend her classes, if you have trouble with perspective and color placement.   We worked on our own wine glasses quilt with her misty fuse and on the second day we did perspective applique with painted accents.  Did you know she was the one who invented Misty Fuse?  I always learn something new from every class I take.

The Stewart Gill Colorise would work wonderfully with the perspective pictures.  Add just enough paint to make the shadows and highlights and blend it in.  It’s water based, so it’s easy to blend.

I am adding Setacolor to my inventory at the Phoenix Show.  If you haven’t done sun printing yet, this is the best.  I am working with some batik applications using the setacolor.  I’m not a dyer, so no chemicals, are a plus.  Pictures coming!!!  Mickey Lawler does Sky Dyes with them.  Her first book is almost out of print and she has come up with a second book.  I haven’t seen it yet though.  Has anyone bought it yet?  More information on how to use the Setacolor coming.
